The minister is to release the report that was commissioned on the merits of the idea, and then begin consultations with Albertans on whether a referendum might be held. One involves a possible Alberta pension plan. But there are a couple of other noteworthy instructions contained in that letter. The premier has tasked him with following through on various campaign promises, such as the new eight per cent tax rate on income up to $60,000 and the expansion of the Taxpayer Protection Act.
